GEOSPACE

GEOSPACE project aims to create a training center in order to introduce modern training programmes and interactive educational methods in Geography studies.

The Center will be set up within the "Babes-Bolyai" University in Cluj-Napoca and will provide training modules for a number of 720 beneficiaries - lower and upper secondary school teachers in urban and rural areas from two major development regions of Romania: North-West and Center. After project completion, it is envisaged extending the project’s results at national level.

GEOSPACE project will have important long term effects on the educational system, such as:

- the development of the lower and upper secondary school teachers’ capacity to implement interactive educational methods by using software solutions and
- the acquisition of key and professional competencies regarding geographical research domains (e.g. Earth Observation) and data mining.

The project will introduce for the first time in Romania interactive teaching instruments for Geography and Geomatics that are currently used at European level and promoted by the European Union and European Space Agency (ESA Eduspace programme):

- LEOWorks – software application that demonstrate and teach Earth Observation techniques
- Interactive Meteosat - web-based interactive application for teaching of satellite meteorology
- etc.
