DESCAS

descasOn the long term, structure vibrations, as a phenomenon, may lead to accidents and even catastrophes. DESCAS is a project that seeks to develop complex systems that would control these vibrations. Without such systems, vibrations in the component parts of an airplane, automobile, building, bridge, etc. will progressively damage their structure and have tragic results. Therefore, by developing theoretical applications and experiments, DESCAS will come up with solutions and theories that would implement some efficient algorithms that would control such vibrations.

The theoretical solutions provided by DESCAS will be applied in lab experiments. DESCAS will consider two major types of control techniques for its lab experiments: semi active and active. The lab experiments aim application on any mechanical system where vibrations occur, from intelligent aircraft or cars to buildings exposed to potential earthquakes.

ASRC’s task will be to provide mathematical modeling and numerical simulations, key activities of lab experiments of this kind.
