In general terms, the project seeks to develop a system of data collecting and analysis concerning the kinematics of the human locomotion system. The real time analysis of an individual’s movements will provide information about the individual’s correctness of movement and efficiency as well as resistance of muscles and joints.
The system will prove efficient in the improvement of athletic performance, the recovery of individuals with locomotion deficiency or patients who have undergone some sort of surgery, and also the training of spacemen who have spent a long time in space.
One of this equipment’s main features is the fact that it helps dealing with every individual according to his or her particular condition and the solution is provided accordingly. Attention will be drawn to the specific muscle, group of muscles or joints that need recovery or special training and the physical exercise or remedy will be suggested accordingly. This way, the other groups of muscles and joist will no longer be over-exercised.
ASRC’s task within this project is to provide the application that would perform the real time analysis of the information. Furthermore, a demo robot will be created, which will serve as demonstration tool for the entire system.
